Bright first burst onto television screens in December 2013 alongside Danny Dyer, who played her on-screen husband, Mick Carter, taking over the reins of the legendary Queen Victoria public house. “EastEnders has been my home for thirteen years and I have absolutely loved being part of the show, but I have decided that it is now the right time for me to say goodbye,” Bright said in a statement.
“I made the tough decision over a year ago, and after discussing this with the executive producers, they asked me to stay on to be part of an exciting storyline they had planned, and I happily agreed to extend my stay. I will miss my friends and colleagues hugely, but I am looking forward to my next chapter and spending more time with my wonderful boys.”
Executive producer Ben Wadey paid tribute to the star’s immense impact on the show, emphasising that Linda Carter has been central to some of the most memorable chapters in modern EastEnders history.
From her harrowing and critically praised journey tackling alcoholism to her pivotal involvement in “The Six” storyline—which saw Linda thrust into the center of the gripping Christmas Day whodunnit involving Keanu Taylor—Bright’s performances have consistently anchored the soap’s highest-stakes drama.
