Omar Bravo is arrested in Guadalajara for alleged sexual abuse of a minor.
Former soccer star Omar Bravo was arrested in Guadalajara on Saturday afternoon, October 4.
Chivas’ all-time leading scorer is being investigated by the Jalisco State Attorney General’s Office for alleged sexual abuse of a juvenile.
The Mexican national team’s World Cup player in Germany in 2006 was apprehended in an operation following a complaint against him.
The Jalisco State Attorney General’s Office launched an inquiry and issued an arrest warrant for the Rojiblanco minor player.
“For his alleged responsibility in the crime of aggravated child sexual abuse, investigative police officers assigned to the Specialized Investigations Deputy Prosecutor’s Office for Women, Girls, Boys, Adolescents, Gender-Based and Family Affairs,” the bulletin states.
According to the statement, Omar Bravo will be “made available to the Court” in the coming hours.
The State Prosecutor’s Office reported that the investigation “reveals that the suspect allegedly abused a teenage girl on several occasions in recent months.”
Furthermore, according to the social representative, it is “presumed that he had previously committed similar actions.” Likewise, he reiterated that the necessary investigations will be conducted to follow up on the case and clarify the facts.
Currently, Omar Bravo is in the Public Ministry, where he was transferred after his arrest in Jalisco.
The former Mexican striker is regarded as Chivas’ all-time leading scorer, with 132 goals.
He has also donned the Mexican national team jersey 67 times, scoring 15 goals.
Omar Bravo represented Mexico in the 2006 World Cup, where he scored twice, both against Iran.
