Georgia Amoore, a first-round choice of the Mystics, sustains an ACL injury during practice.
Georgia Amoore, a rookie first-round draft pick, will be out of the Washington Mystics for some time after sustaining an ACL injury during practice on Tuesday. The organisation did not provide a comeback date when they disclosed the injury on Wednesday.
According to the Mystics’ statement, “Amoore and the team will review treatment and rehabilitation options and provide an update as appropriate.”
In the WNBA draft this month, Amoore was selected sixth overall. After playing for Virginia Tech for four years, the Australian point guard, who is five feet six, posted career highs in assists (6.0) and points (19.6) in her last season at Kentucky.
The Mystics had a day off on Wednesday after beginning training camp on Sunday and practising on Monday and Tuesday.
As they reorganise their squad this season, Washington selected Amoore as one of their three first-round selections. Before Amoore was picked sixth overall, USC forward Kiki Iriafen and Notre Dame guard Sonia Citron were selected third and fourth, respectively.
