The French number 1 qualified easily against South Korean Ku Yeonwoo, ranked 305th in the world, who reached the second round of the WTA 500 in Seoul.

World No. 49 Lois Boisson comfortably defeated South Korean wildcard Ku Yeonwoo in 1 hour and 23 minutes, 6-2, 6-1.

The Frenchwoman was permitted to play without a coach for her first WTA 500 and first match since her opening loss at the US Open, after parting company with Florian Reynet, who had joined her in the Roland Garros semi-finals, a month earlier.

She will shortly have a trial with Spanish coach Carlos Martinez, who is likely to accompany her for the rest of the Asian trip.

Although the Frenchwoman won easily, she will most likely need to elevate her game in the second round, where she will play Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, ranked 11th in the world and seeded second in the event.
