A rescue squad is on its way, and Laura Dahlmeier’s body, which was killed in an accident, appears to be retrieved after all.

According to Pakistani mountain guide Kaleem Shani’s social media posts on Sunday, a rescue team is on its way to remove the corpse from the accident scene in the Karakoram Mountains.

However, these intentions have yet to be officially confirmed. Shani works for the organisation “Shipton Tours,” with whom Dahlmeier previously travelled.

On July 28, the Olympic biathlon champion and seven-time world champion died while on an adventure in Pakistan’s Karakoram Mountains. She was hit by a rockfall while abseiling down Laila Peak.

Initially, it was said that the body of the exceptional athlete would not be recovered.

Dahlmeier’s management stated at the time: “It was Laura Dahlmeier’s express and written will that in a case like this, no one should risk their life to rescue her. Her wish was to leave her body on the mountain in this case. This is also in the best interests of her relatives.”

Bavarian mountaineer Thomas Huber, part of the rescue team, said: “As experienced mountaineers, we decided she should stay. Because it was her wish.”

As her management announced shortly after her death , Dahlmeier wanted her body to be left on the mountain in the event of her death. “It was Laura Dahlmeier’s express and written will that in a case like this, no one should risk their life to rescue her. Her wish was to leave her body on the mountain in this case,” it said.
