Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025: Blue Impulse Fighter Jets Finally Flies

The Japan Air Self-Defence Force’s aerobatic team, Blue Impulse, performed an exhibition flight over the Osaka Kansai Expo site on the 12th. On the large roof ring, many visitors looked up at the sky and cheered at the well-coordinated aerial show.

The six Blue Impulse aircraft appeared in the sky above the Expo site at around 3:00 p.m. and circled repeatedly for about 15 minutes, trailing white smoke.

The Expo will be halfway through its opening three months on the 13th of this month. A flight over the site is also scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. on the 13th.

Six aircraft demonstrated their flying skills under a clear sky with thin clouds. A large number of visitors watched the performance from the top of the large roof ring, and cheered and applauded with loud “amazing” comments.

 After taking off from Kansai Airport, they flew over Expo Commemoration Park (Suita City, Osaka Prefecture), where the Tower of the Sun, the symbol of the 1970 Osaka Expo, is located, and Osaka Castle (Osaka City), and appeared over the Expo site at around 3:00 p.m. After flying around once in formation, they drew hearts and figures of eight with white smoke.

 The demonstration flight will continue on the afternoon of the 13th. The flight was scheduled for opening day on April 13th but was cancelled due to bad weather.
