Officials from Nuevo León Civil Protection have highlighted that it remains uncertain whether the object in question was a meteorite or merely space debris. However, they have assured the public that it posed no threat to the population.

Santiago, Nuevo León, Mexico— In Nuevo León, social media enthusiasts documented the striking moment when a meteor-like object descended near the hills of the Monterrey Metropolitan Area.

The video captures a circular, blazing object in the distance, moving at remarkable speed before vanishing into the clouds. Several individuals have come forward, recounting the experience of a resounding bang echoing through the early hours of the morning.

The Civil Protection of the State of Nuevo León reports that this incident took place at 2:13 a.m. in the municipality of Santiago, specifically in the Los Encinos neighborhood.

The institution has disclosed that it has received numerous accounts regarding the sighting of a luminous object, which, upon its descent, generated a significant noise across 12 municipalities, including Santiago, Allende, General Terán, Montemorelos, Guadalupe, Santa Catarina, San Pedro Garza García, Monterrey, Cadereyta, Juárez, San Nicolás de los Garza, Escobedo, and García.

Alongside the municipal capitals, reports have emerged from other states, including Coahuila and Tamaulipas, concerning this incident, with even Texas, in the United States, being mentioned.

Nuevo León Civil Protection has highlighted that the nature of the object remains uncertain, whether it be a meteorite or space debris. However, they have assured that it does not pose any threat to the public, and there have been no reports of damage stemming from the incident.
