Hungarian Actor and Director József Gajdos Dies at 63

The 63-year-old Hungarian musical actor, folk dancer, choreographer, and director József Gajdos passed away.

The unfortunate news was shared on the István Kazán Chamber Theatre’s Facebook page. His family, friends, coworkers, and “the few friends who were with him during the difficult period” said goodbye to him as they wrote. I hope he finds peace.

“It’s hard to put into words the loss of a colleague of the same age, but as the emperor says in the movie ‘The Last Samurai’: ‘Don’t tell me how he died; tell me how he lived!’ And from now on, maybe my job will be easier,” the message continues.

Director-choreographer László Kriszt’s obituary states that József Gajdos finished his studies in 1986 under István Kazán in the Academy of Theatre and Film Arts’ operetta-musical department.

In addition, he is recognised for having founded the Madách Dance Corps, directed and choreographed many West Side Story and Evita shows, and choreographed the musical Elisabeth.
