Grand Theft Auto fans are accustomed to long delays. It has been eleven years since the release of GTA V. The sixth iteration, GTA 6, of the hit game will no longer be available this year.

The highly anticipated next game in the “Grand Theft Auto” (GTA) series will not be published this year, as previously scheduled. “Grand Theft Auto VI will now be released on May 26, 2026,” said New York-based publisher Rockstar Games.

“Grand Theft Auto VI” (GTA VI) is the officially announced and much-anticipated next edition in Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto series. It is the first new instalment since GTA V (2013), and fans, media, and industry experts are hailing it as one of the biggest blockbusters in gaming history.

“We sincerely regret that this is later than you expected,” the statement continues. “The interest and anticipation for a new Grand Theft Auto is truly overwhelming for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and patience as we work to complete the game.”

“Grand Theft Auto” is one of the world’s most popular video game series and was first released in 1997. What makes the game special is the enormous freedom it offers: The open world can be freely explored, and beyond the main missions, there are numerous side quests and activities – from sports like golf or tennis to car racing and leisure activities like hunting or going to the theater.

The plot is often characterized by satirical and socially critical elements and is told through cinematic cutscenes. The characters usually work their way up through a criminal career.

The setting for “Grand Theft Auto VI” is said to be a fictional version of the US metropolis of Miami. The trailer released so far features fast car rides, speedy motorboats, beaches, weapons, crocodiles, and many characters, including a protagonist named Lucia.
