Iranian army parade in honour of Army Day, Iran’s national holiday observed on April 18.
The day of the Iranian Army has been celebrated since 1921.
Tehran is hosting a National Army Day celebration that is being attended by high-ranking military and political figures. Imam Khomeini (RA), the late founder of the Islamic Revolution, declared the 29th of the Iranian month of Farvardin to be National Army Day.
Following a landmark letter from Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic, in April 1979, National Army Day was added to the Iranian calendar.
He expressed his unwavering support for the Army and gave the order for Army soldiers to demonstrate their battle preparedness each year on April 18 by participating in large parades around the nation. Imam Khomeini made the historic decision in response to hostile propaganda that was used to undermine the Army following its successful operations in putting an end to riots and separatist movements.
