Plot of Big Buck Bunny
The narrative unfolds over the course of a single day in the life of Big Buck Bunny, where he encounters three rather troublesome rodents: the ringleader, Frank the flying squirrel, accompanied by his companions Rinky the red squirrel and Gimera the chinchilla. The little rodents find their entertainment in tormenting the unsuspecting inhabitants of the forest, hurling fruits, nuts, and even rocks at their hapless victims.
Following the unfortunate demise of two butterflies at the hands of the rodents, who employed an apple and a rock in their mischief, Bunny, typically of a gentle disposition, finds himself compelled to abandon his usual demeanor. He devises an intricate scheme to exact revenge for the fallen butterflies.
Bunny employs an assortment of traps to first eliminate Rinky and Gimera. Frank, oblivious to the destiny of his two companions, is observed launching from a tree and soaring towards an apparently unsuspecting Bunny. Once in the air, Frank activates Bunny’s last set of traps, leading to Frank colliding with a tree branch and subsequently falling into a spike trap beneath. In a rather precarious turn of events, Frank seizes what he assumes to be the sturdy branch of a modest tree, only to find, much to his dismay, that it is merely a twig being held aloft by Bunny, precariously positioned above the spikes below. Bunny swiftly seizes Frank.
The film wraps up with Bunny feeling quite satisfied as a butterfly flutters by, carrying a string to which Frank is tethered like a kite in flight.
