Fugitive TV Star Dermot Clemenger Confronted in London Over Sex Purchase Charges

3 min read

Fugitive TV personality Dermot Clemenger, wanted in Sweden for multiple counts of sex purchases, was confronted by Swedish newspaper Expressen at a hotel in London. Clemenger, who has been on the run since December, fled the scene upon being approached by a reporter.

In a video clip published by Expressen, the journalist can be heard greeting Clemenger with, “Hi Dermot, Expressen here.” Moments later, Clemenger visibly panics and sprints out of the hotel lobby.

Internationally Wanted for Sex Purchases

Clemenger was charged in Sweden in early December with 31 counts of buying sex. He has admitted to 30 of the charges, but several of the cases have since become statute-barred. Despite an international search warrant, law enforcement authorities in Sweden and abroad have failed to locate him—until now.
“The police are looking for you. Why are you staying away, Dermot?” the Expressen reporter called out as Clemenger disappeared around a corner.

Journalist on Clemenger’s Escape: ‘I Saw Panic in His Eyes’

Expressen reporter Michael Syrén, who confronted Clemenger, shared his observations in an interview with TV4 Nyheterna. According to Syrén, Clemenger’s reaction was unusual.

“I’m used to confrontations. Normally, people who don’t want to participate simply say ‘no comment.’ But when I reached him, I saw panic in his eyes, and he rushed out,” Syrén explained.

Expressen’s investigative team, working in collaboration with the newspaper’s entertainment desk, had been tracking Clemenger’s whereabouts in London. After narrowing it down to two possible addresses, they were able to locate him at one of them.

Did Clemenger Use a Fake ID to Book His Hotel Stay?

Despite Clemenger’s presence at the London hotel, its staff told Aftonbladet that no reservation had been made under his name.

“We have no checked-in guest or reservation under that name,” a receptionist stated.
Hotel staff suggested that Clemenger may have used a fake ID or had someone else book the room and collect the key card on his behalf.

Avoiding Justice While Confessing to Crimes

The TV4 profile has admitted to purchasing sex on 30 occasions. However, instead of facing the legal consequences in Sweden, he fled abroad. His recent discovery in London has reignited pressure on authorities to apprehend him and ensure justice is served.

As Swedish authorities work to bring Clemenger to justice, questions remain about how long he can evade capture—and what steps will be taken next to hold him accountable.
