The star of “I’m Still Here (Ainda Estou Aqui)” has been named a nominee for best actress.

The New York Times released a story on Wednesday, the 22nd, in which it expressed reservations about Fernanda Torres’ potential candidacy for Best Actress at the Oscars in 2025.

“The last spot may come from Brazil, with actress Fernanda Torres, who surprised by winning the Golden Globe for best actress in a drama film for I’m Still Here,” according to an American magazine.

The article “Oscar Nomination Predictions in a Wild and Unpredictable Season” includes the contenders who are deemed certain, as follows: The cast includes Demi Moore (The Substance), Mikey Madison (Anora), Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), and Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez).

Only one seat is open, and Fernanda Torres might get it, according to the publication. However, there are other actresses with equally great performances vying for the position.

Nicole Kidman for Babygirl is one of them, and her exposure to strong sex scenes is surprising. The other is Angelina Jolie, who used her voice in Maria Callas. There’s also Kate Winslet for Lee and Pamela Anderson for The Last Showgirl.

But, according to the publication, the outsider with the best chance of getting nominated is a little-known name: Marianne Jean-Baptiste, who plays a miserable and pessimistic lady in the movie Hard Truths.
