Ricarda Lang has been frequently targeted due to her weight. The former Green Party leader has shed a significant amount of weight, but he feels like a traitor as a result.
Ricarda Lang’s decision to reduce weight was not motivated by her resignation as Green Party leader or the hatred she received on the internet. “To be honest, the main reason was my health,” she told “Zeit-Magazin” in an interview. “I have very stressful work that I wish to continue for a few more years. “I should take better care of myself,” Lang added.
The harsh remarks really prohibited her from discussing things like diet, sports, and health. “These were topics that I was afraid of,” says Lang. “Sometimes I was defiant and thought, No, I’m not going to let you push me into this.”
The online abuse is one side of the coin; the other is her function as a role model. Lang believes that this was very important for many women. That is why she now doubts herself as a symbol of the body positivity movement: “Now I sometimes wonder: Oh God, am I betraying these women? Am I now the guy who makes others believe that they can only succeed if they lose weight?
Lang has made many self-critical remarks after her departure, the most recent on the ARD show “Caren Miosga.” The show focused on a comment made by the Green Lawmaker in March 2023. Lang had previously declared a “huge solar expansion offensive” and stated that no kilometer of roadway would be built until renewable energies were developed. “When you see it today, you’re obviously humiliated. “It’s just pretty embarrassing,” the 31-year-old said.
Lang served as the federal chairwoman of Alliance 90/The Greens, with Omid Nouripour, until her departure last autumn. Since then, she has seemed considerably more calm.
