Friday Night Traffic Stop Triggers Integrity Probe
According to New South Wales Police, officers attached to the Inner West Police Area Command were patrolling Enmore Road in Newtown at approximately 11:10 p.m. on Friday when they flagged down a vehicle for a routine random stop.
While Addo-Carr cleared an initial roadside breath test, a preliminary oral fluid drug wipe allegedly returned a positive indication for cocaine. Police confirmed that a secondary sample has been sent off for formal forensic laboratory analysis, with the investigation remaining ongoing.
Parramatta club powerbrokers were quickly alerted to the development, prompting club executives to immediately notify the NRL Integrity Unit. Eels management released a brief formal statement acknowledging the situation:
“The Parramatta Eels are aware of an alleged incident involving Josh Addo-Carr,” the club statement read. “The club has notified the NRL Integrity Unit and is cooperating with the appropriate processes, as well as providing welfare support to Josh and his family. The Parramatta Eels will not be commenting further until the matter has been finalised.”
A Repeated Crisis and Threat to Contract
The unfolding scandal bears striking similarities to a nearly identical controversy that upended Addo-Carr’s career in late 2024.
