South Korean actor Jang Dong-yoon has announced he will marry actress and filmmaker Kim Seung-yoon in a private October ceremony after years of dating quietly.

South Korean actor Jang Dong-yoon is set to tie the knot. In a surprise announcement that delighted fans across the globe, the star revealed he will marry fellow actor and filmmaker Kim Seung-yoon this coming October in an intimate, private ceremony.

The wedding news was shared directly by Jang through a heartfelt handwritten letter posted to his social media. Opting for a personal touch rather than a standard corporate press release, the actor opened up about his long-term relationship and the thoughtful journey that led the couple toward marriage.

A Relationship Built on Shared Creativity

While the announcement came as a shock to many followers, given that the pair successfully kept their relationship out of the public eye for years, their bond runs deep. Jang, 34, and Kim first crossed paths back in 2019 while working on the hit KBS2 historical romance drama The Tale of Nokdu, which served as Kim’s acting debut.

Over the years, their professional relationship naturally evolved into a creative partnership. Kim later starred in Jang’s directorial debut short film, Please Be My Ear, in 2023, and subsequently took on the lead role in his feature-length directorial debut, The Yeast, which premiered earlier this year.

A Private, Intimate Ceremony

Reflecting on their years together, Jang expressed deep gratitude for the mutual trust and understanding they have built.

“This coming October, I will be marrying someone I have been with for a long time,” Jang wrote in his letter to fans.

“As we spent a long time together and came to know each other in many different ways, we came to understand and cherish each other even more. Now, we have decided to be there for each other as our closest confidants and to build a fun and happy life together.”

Following the announcement, Jang’s agency, BH Entertainment, confirmed that the couple will forgo a large, star-studded celebrity wedding. Instead, they plan to hold a quiet Christian worship service in October attended strictly by parents and immediate family members.

As congratulatory messages pour in from industry peers and devoted fans, Jang has assured supporters that he will continue working hard on screen, stepping into this bright new chapter with maturity and renewed dedication to his craft.
