Steve Bannon Copycats Musk’s Controversial Salute

Bannon Performs His Own Controversial Salute While Advocating for a Third Trump Term.

Steve Bannon, a former adviser to Trump, energized the audience at Friday’s Conservative Political Action Conference by discussing the potential for Donald Trump to remain in office for a third term in 2028, despite constitutional restrictions. He wrapped up his address with a provocative gesture reminiscent of the controversial salute made by Elon Musk at a recent post-inauguration rally.

“The inquiries circulating—‘What lies ahead for MAGA?’ What does the future hold for 2028?—we’re not concerned about 2028. “We’re concerned about today, tomorrow, and the days that follow,” Bannon stated.

“That’s how victory was achieved.” We did not return in 2021—‘What will unfold in 2024?’ Negative. It occurs on a daily basis. You step up to the challenge, and we make it happen. “Movement, movement, movement.”

Bannon, having pleaded guilty last week to defrauding donors aiming to fund a southern border wall, still garnered a warm welcome at the annual conservative gathering.

“The future of America is focused on making it great again, understood?” The future of MAGA is undeniably tied to Donald J. Trump. Our preference is for Trump in 2028. “That’s what they can’t stand,” Bannon declared, eliciting cheers as he gestured toward the news cameras. “A figure like Trump emerges only once or twice in the history of a nation, wouldn’t you agree?”

Following a rallying cry of “We want Trump,” Bannon once more brought up the media.

“Nothing will stir them up quite like that.” Bannon remarked, “They want to label him a lame duck, saying Trump is this and that, claiming he won’t run in ’28.” “Trump has arrived.” He stands at the forefront of this movement.

Following the conclusion of his speech, Bannon seemed to acknowledge the audience with a gesture reminiscent of Elon Musk, whose recent open-palmed, arm-outstretched move had excited right-wing extremists, white nationalists, and neo-Nazis.

A spokesperson for Bannon has yet to reply to a request for comment from the Daily Beast.

Since returning to the White House, Trump has repeatedly alluded to the possibility of remaining in office beyond 2028. Earlier this month, he made appearances at the National Prayer Breakfast, sharing the stage with House Speaker Mike Johnson in January, and participated in a rally in Las Vegas just days before.

Just two hours prior to Bannon’s appearance on stage Thursday, Trump revisited that topic once more.“Am I considering another run?” “You tell me,” he inquired of the enthusiastic audience at the White House, who responded with chants of “four more years.”

Recently, a significant development aimed at facilitating Trump’s potential candidacy in 2028 has emerged, specifically through legislation put forth by Tennessee Republican Rep. Andy Ogles. The proposed legislation would enable Trump to serve a total of three terms, while conveniently excluding former presidents such as Barack Obama, who have already completed two consecutive terms, from holding office again.

To propose a Constitutional amendment, one must secure a two-thirds majority in both the House and Senate, or initiate a constitutional convention through the support of two-thirds of state legislatures. Subsequently, the amendment requires ratification by three-fourths of the states.
