A suspected family tragedy has devastated Mexico City: Carolina Flores Gómez, a former beauty queen, was discovered dead in her flat on 15 April. The 27-year-old died as a result of an aimed gunshot to the head.
The event took place in the upscale Polanco neighbourhood, where the young mother resided with her family in a luxurious apartment. Paramedics came and could only confirm her dead.
Flores Gómez is originally from Ensenada, Baja California. She won Miss Teen Universe Baja California in 2017, when she was 17 years old. Authorities are currently investigating a probable murder.
The inquiry is centred on Erika Herrera, the victim’s mother-in-law. According to sources, both she and Carolina’s husband, Alejandro, were present in the flat when the deadly shooting occurred.
The fact that authorities only got the emergency call one day after the event is very startling. The young woman is said to have been dead for 24 hours before her husband contacted emergency authorities.
Additional discrepancies raise issues. The domestic personnel reported that they did not hear gunshots or observe any odd happenings.
Despite these conditions, detectives are focused on the mother rather than the husband.
A video circulating online is sparking controversy, claiming to record the occurrence. According to the “New York Post,” the mother-in-law appears to have fired several rounds at Carolina out of envy.
In the video, the husband enters the room with their kid in his arms, asking what happened. “Nothing,” the mother reportedly says. She then says, “She made me angry.” You belonged to me, and she snatched you. “The 27-year-old’s actual connection with her mother-in-law is unknown.
Erika Herrera is considered a prime suspect by the Mexico City public prosecutor’s office. Investigators meticulously investigated the upscale flat in the Polanco neighbourhood for evidence. Despite the severe claims and widely circulated video footage, no one has been arrested or prosecuted. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact sequence of events.
