At approximately 10 a.m., U.S. Undersecretary of State Christopher Landau was seen entering a private meeting with President Claudia Sheinbaum at the National Palace.
This initiative is part of a broader regional tour that encompasses stops in El Salvador and Guatemala, aimed at encouraging U.S. investment while addressing the issue of migration flows heading north.
On Tuesday night, Landau touched down in Mexico and was welcomed at the official residence of the Mexican president by Juan Ramón de la Fuente, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE). The presence of U.S. official Ronald Johnson was noted, yet no remarks were made.
In her morning press conference on June 11, Sheinbaum stated that she would tackle the topic of the arrests. She emphasised that Mexicans in the neighbouring country to the north “are honest, hard-working people who require recognition, because the United States also needs them for its economy, and those who are inciting these falsehoods, well, they better start defending Mexico and Mexicans.”
