All Nine Dead After Private Business Jet Plunges Into South Florida Neighbourhood

All nine people aboard a private Learjet 60 were killed when the business jet crashed into a residential South Florida neighbourhood.

Federal and local authorities have launched an intensive multi-agency investigation after a private business jet nose-dived into a South Florida residential neighbourhood on Sunday afternoon, resulting in a cataclysmic explosion that killed all nine people on board.

The fatal crash occurred at approximately 12:50 p.m. local time on Sunday, November 1, 2026, near the intersection of Military Trail and 10th Avenue North in Palm Beach County, just outside the city of Greenacres and less than seven miles from Mar-a-Lago.

A Steep Dive From 35,000 Feet

According to preliminary flight tracking data and air-traffic control records, the aircraft—identified as a twin-engine Learjet 60 bearing tail number N722BD, had departed from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas, bound for the Bahamas.

While cruising eastward at 35,000 feet amid heavy regional rainfall and turbulent weather, the flight crew reported severe icing and precipitation, requesting permission to climb 2,000 feet. Moments later, radio contact fractured as the aircraft suddenly entered a steep, near-vertical descent. A distress call was broadcast before the jet banked sharply to the right and plunged from the sky.

Dashcam and security footage captured by motorists and nearby residents showed the terrifying final seconds of the flight, depicting the aircraft hurtling downward at high speed before slamming violently into the ground near a busy roadway and residential perimeter. The impact triggered a massive fireball and billows of thick black smoke, carving out a deep crater on the side of the road.

Miraculous Avoidance of Ground Casualties

Emergency responders from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and local fire-rescue units flooded the zone within minutes, closing surrounding roads and battling the intense residual blazes.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis rushed to the accident site to coordinate emergency updates, describing the event as devastating.

“Obviously, this was a cataclysmic plane crash,” Governor DeSantis told reporters at the scene.“It looked like a missile going down and left a big crater on the side of the road… As of now, they don’t have any reports of anyone who was on the ground, apart from the people in the plane, who were killed or injured.”

US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy took to social media to confirm the tragedy, sharing condolences for the nine victims aboard. Local officials also coordinated the temporary evacuation and sheltering of roughly 600 nearby residents whose homes sat directly adjacent to the debris field, providing emergency Red Cross assistance while utility crews worked to restore power severed by the impact.

Federal Probe Underway

Teams from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) arrived on-site to secure the wreckage and retrieve the aircraft’s flight data and cockpit voice recorders.

Investigators plan to examine the interplay of severe weather, onboard instrumentation, and mechanical telemetry during the final minutes of the flight as they piece together why the charter flight experienced such a catastrophic structural breakdown. Formal identification of the nine victims remains pending notification of next of kin.
