Famous actor Arif Erkin Güzelbeyoğlu, who was etched in the memories of the audience with his character of “Memik Dede” in the TV series “Yanı Damat”, passed away at the age of 90.
Arif Erkin Güzelbeyoğlu, who appeared before audiences with his role as Memik Dede in “Yağın Damat” (The Foreign Groom) and was also etched in memories with his performances in popular series such as “Bizimkiler” (Our Friends), “Doksanlar” (The Nineties), “Canım Ailem” (My Family), and “Muhteşem Yüzyıl” (The Magnificent Century), has passed away at the age of 90.
The news was announced by the master’s son, Mehmet Güzelbeyoğlu.
Who is Arif Erkin Güzelbeyoğlu?
Arif Erkin Güzelbeyoğlu, known for his roles as Zülfikar Ağa in the TV series İkinci Bahar and Memik Dede in the TV series Yabanci Damat, was born in Gaziantep on September 11, 1935, and made significant contributions to Turkish theater, cinema, and music.
He went on to pursue careers as an architect, musician, actor, and bureaucrat.
He began his artistic career as an amateur while a student at Gaziantep High School, playing the lead role in Molière’s play “The Illness Patient.”
After graduating from Istanbul Technical University’s Faculty of Architecture, he studied music at the State Opera and Ballet’s Opera Preparatory School and performed as a soloist and chorister at Istanbul Radio.
He began his theatrical career at the Gülriz Sururi-Engin Cezzar Theater, composing music for Haldun Taner’s plays such as Zilli Zarife and Vatan Kurtaran Şaban.
He was involved in the founding of the Dostlar Theatre and composed the music for all of its plays during its first five years.
