Tragedy after the Hamburg Half Marathon: Celebrity chef Karlheinz Hauser mourns the death of his son Tom, who died at the age of 26 due to a breakdown.
After a terrible occurrence at the Hella Half Marathon in Hamburg on June 29, the 26-year-old son of renowned Hamburg celebrity chef Karlheinz Hauser died.
According to the Hamburger Abendblatt, the young guy fainted at roughly kilometre 19 of the marathon, due to the heat and humid weather and fell unprotected upon his head. He was promptly treated in emergency medical care and sent to the University Hospital Eppendorf (UKE), where he was admitted to the critical care unit.
Despite all attempts, he died on July 7 as a result of the brain haemorrhage. “It was a tragedy; they really tried everything,” his father, Hauser, told the publication Abendblatt.
The 26-year-old attended the Hamburg School of Business Administration and worked with his father, including at McLaren Racing Catering. He also intended to collaborate on a restaurant concept in Hamburg. According to his relatives, he was full of life, athletically ambitious, and on the verge of establishing himself in sports administration and motorsports, as reported by falstaff.com.
