Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after stabbing at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro

In connection with an incident on the 1st of July just before noon inside a law office on the 31st floor of Sunshine City, a shopping complex in Higashi-Ikebukuro, Toshima Ward, Tokyo, a man was stabbed, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department made an emergency arrest of a man who turned himself in to a nearby police station on suspicion of attempted murder.

On the 1st of July, at approximately 11:50 a.m. local time, a call to 110 reported the stabbing of an employee at Sunshine City. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, one man in his 30s was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition, unconscious. The details of the incident are currently being investigated.

The man, who is believed to have stabbed the man, was in his 50s and fled for a time, but later turned himself in at a nearby police station with a knife and was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

During questioning, he said to the effect that “I don’t remember stabbing him, but when I realized it, I had stabbed him.” The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the situation at the time in detail.
