Thiago Elar, a transgender TikToker, was hospitalized in a clinic for some time and had spoken out on social media about his struggles with eating disorders.
Thiago Elar, a 27-year-old TikToker who documented his stay in a psychiatric facility on social media, died in Treviglio, Bergamo.
Thiago Elar was a transgender guy formerly known as Lisa El Arbaoui. According to internet postings, the 27-year-old had been dealing with an eating condition for some time. His death was thought to be due to natural causes.
Thiago Elar’s death was announced on social media by other users who had been following his trip from a hospital room for some time and were extremely moved by his experience, genuineness, and bravery.
In his videos (ten to twenty per day), the 27-year-old discussed his difficult transition, admitting to eating disorders and mental health issues, as well as his experiences of loneliness in psychiatric clinics and difficult relationships with some of his family members.
In these videos, he frequently asked for help and support from his 147,000-strong community, expressing anger and desperation.
The message in the most recent video “I am still here. Thiago Elar claimed in one of his most recent films, “I have an appointment with the doctor tomorrow, who will send me to a better place.”
A message that, when read today, sounds like a foreshadowing. In another, more direct statement, he remarked, “I’m waiting to go somewhere… it will probably take me to the end of my days.”
Thiago Elar’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 23, at 3:00 p.m. in the parish church of Osio di Sotto.
