The alarming claims first surfaced in a report by TVNotas, which cited unnamed sources suggesting the celebrated soprano has been quietly dealing with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. According to the publication, Zabaleta has faced this health crisis alongside her partner, comedian Ricardo Pérez, with whom she began a relationship in April 2024.

The speculation gained momentum after Cuban singer Francisco Céspedes alluded to a colleague’s cancer diagnosis in a recent interview, without revealing the individual’s identity. However, TVNotas later alleged that Céspedes had been referring to Zabaleta, citing information from an acquaintance of Ricardo Pérez.

Details published by the outlet claim that Zabaleta was deeply affected by the diagnosis, reportedly experiencing a period of depression and social withdrawal. “When she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, she became depressed. She withdrew from many friends and became closer to others. She didn’t know if she would survive,” a source allegedly told the magazine.

Despite the gravity of the diagnosis, the outlet reports that Zabaleta’s current condition is stable, with the illness under control. Still, doctors are said to have informed her that she remains under observation and must continue with regular checkups. “If she makes it through five years without a relapse, she’ll be able to claim victory,” the report states.

As for Ricardo Pérez, the magazine claims he learned about Zabaleta’s diagnosis shortly before their relationship began. According to the source, she opened up about her health shortly before they officially became a couple.
