According to information provided by the ISPR, 19 people, including the pilot of the crashed training aircraft, were killed. 164 people were injured.

Earlier, Brigadier General Mohammad Zahed Kamal, Director General of Fire Service and Civil Defence, gave information that 19 people were killed in the incident.

The aircraft crashed into the school building after 1 pm today. A statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the aircraft took off at 1:06 pm today, Monday. It later crashed.

While inspecting the accident-hit area of Milestone at around 4:45 pm, the Director General of Fire Service said, “As you all know, today an F-7 BJI fighter aircraft of the Air Force made a crash landing at the two-story school building of our Milestone School and College’s Uttara branch at around 1 pm. On the first floor of this two-story building, there were classes for children of grades 3 and 4.

On the second floor, there were classes for children of grades 2 and 5. Along with it, there was the principal’s office meeting room. A coaching class was going on. When the crash landing took place, the school was out, and at that time, the place where the landing took place, which hit the teachers’ room, was hit, and children and maybe some parents were with them.”

The Director General said that the Fire Department received the news of the accident at around 1:08 pm. “Our unit quickly reached and started rescue operations. A total of 9 of our units were operating here.” Currently, the fire is completely extinguished, and we are conducting rescue operations.”

The Director General of the Fire Service said that the victims have been rescued and taken to various hospitals. “According to our calculations, we have recovered the dead bodies of 19 people so far. They are in various hospitals. The army, our fire service, the police, and everyone else have cooperated with us; our rescue work is ongoing. We will be able to tell you the total damage figure once the rescue work is completed.”

Bangladeshi media reported around 4 pm that a large crowd had gathered in front of Milestone College. Ambulances are coming out of the destroyed building of the college one after another. Now, requests are being made to donate blood for the injured people from there.
