Following a series of defections within the Liberal Party this week, including the Minister for Gender Equality and party secretary Jakob Olofsgård, the party has now introduced a new party secretary, Simona Mohamsson.
At 9 a.m. local time on Friday, Johan Pehrson, the leader of the Liberal Party, announced the appointment of Simona Mohamsson as the new party secretary.
Mohamsson has occupied roles within the Liberal Party in Gothenburg and is a member of the party board. She secured the third position on the party’s candidate list during the most recent European Parliament elections.
“Simona Mohamsson possesses exceptional listening skills in her leadership, and she will undoubtedly be a tremendous asset to our association,” remarked Pehrson during a press conference.
“The dedication she has demonstrated over the past ten years indicates that she will play a significant role, particularly in gearing up the Liberals for the impending election campaign next year.”
She takes over from Jakob Olofsgård, who recently declared his departure from the position to concentrate on significant policy matters as a member of parliament.
“Passionate about campaigning”, Simona Mohamsson refers to herself as “an association person”.
“That is precisely why I find myself here today,” she states at the press conference.
“I have a passion for campaigning and a genuine enthusiasm for uniting individuals. At this juncture, our emphasis is on fostering greater confidence in the Liberals. Now is the moment to intensify our efforts and clearly demonstrate our principles.”

At the start of the week, it was revealed that Nina Larsson (L) is set to take on the role of Sweden’s new Minister for Gender Equality and Working Life, following the resignation of the former minister, Paulina Brandberg, which was announced on Monday afternoon.
This week saw the resignation of Chief of Staff Oscar Wåglund Söderström.
“The paramount consideration at this juncture is to focus on the future,” remarks Simona Mohamsson.
