Insiders are speculating about the imminent release of a major Android update from Samsung. New features could increase the performance of the devices.

Samsung is presently having issues with the deployment of Android 15 (One UI 7) to Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

The rollout has been suspended. However, rumours are spreading concerning the debut of Android 16 (OneUI 8) on the South Korean tech giant’s first smartphones and tablets.

According to insiders, the first smartphones will likely receive the new operating system shortly.

According to tech portal sammobile.com, the foldable Galaxy Fold 7 and Galaxy Flip 7 smartphones are already shipping with the updated software.

If this information is genuine, Samsung is expected to upgrade previously sold smartphones, such as the S25 series, with OneUI 8 shortly.

Before the patches come, Samsung has already patched over 50 security flaws.

OneUI 8 is coming shortly to Samsung Galaxy, with an Android 16 upgrade planned

But when will Samsung’s moment come? After all, Google has not yet released Android 16 for its Pixel smartphones.

However, Google has guaranteed that the operating system will be available in June. This indicates that Samsung might debut its foldable smartphones with OneUI 8 within a few days or weeks after Android 16.

The annual Google I/O conference, when Google typically announces a new version of Android, will be held on May 20 and 21, 2025.

This year’s participants will receive a first peek at the significant improvements in Android 16. Three beta versions of the latest Android iteration have already been released.

It is expected that the OneUI 8 user interface will feature many of Google’s important enhancements and improvements.

However, the actual implementation remains to be seen, as Samsung’s customisations have occasionally diverged dramatically from Google’s original version in the past.

It is uncertain whether and when Samsung will launch a beta program for OneUI 8. If it happens, Galaxy S25 users will most certainly be among the first to try the new operating system.

However, some smartphone owners are already concerned that some Samsung devices would no longer receive updates.
