A police officer is accused of shooting himself, his wife, and two children on Friday morning in the Klettbach municipality, in the Weimarer Land region of Germany.

On Friday morning, four bodies were discovered in Klettbach, in the Weimar district.

A 49-year-old man killed his wife and his two children before killing himself, according to the State Police Directorate and the Erfurt Public Prosecutor’s Office.

One of the State Police Directorate’s officers was the victim. Gunshot wounds were discovered on all four family members.

A crisis response team is helping the State Police Directorate, State Operations Centre, and on-scene police personnel.

According to Christian Hackbart, operations manager, the emergency call was received at around 6:30 a.m. Four people were found dead when police got on the site twenty minutes later. On the scene are the State Criminal Police Office and the criminal investigation department.

At first, neither the public prosecutor’s office nor the Thuringian police would comment on the crime’s history.

The two main questions are probably whether the police officer’s service weapon was also used in the murder and whether the officer had any past indications of mental health issues.

Evidence in the property still has to be secured, and the impacted house is still blocked off.

Franziska Hildebrandt (FDP), the mayor of Klettbach, stated following the incident, “We are shocked.” very particular, the two adolescent children blended very nicely with the 1,300-person community. They participated in several clubs.

At the country guesthouse in Klettbach, Hildebrandt also provided pastoral care service help to persons in need of psychological support from the Weimar region.
