A brain stem hemorrhage claimed the life of BUCK-TICK’s Atsushi Sakurai (Vo) at 23:09 on October 19. He’d made it to the ripe old age of 57.
On October 19th, Sakurai postponed the first day of his fan club exclusive live “BUCK-TICK FISH TANKer’s ONLY 2023” that was scheduled to take place at KT Zepp Yokohama in Kanagawa. He was taken to the hospital, where he ultimately passed away.
His next of kin decided to have a small, intimate burial service for her in accordance with his desires. His agency has announced that they would be holding a memorial service for Sakurai at a later time.
Sakurai, Hisashi Imai (Guitar), Hidehiko Hoshino (Guitar), Yutaka Higuchi (Bass Guitar), and Toru Yagami (Doctor) founded BUCK-TICK. First appearing publicly in 1987, the group found success with the release of 1988’s “JUST ONE MORE KISS.”
They’ve been going strong for 35 years, and this year marks the anniversary of their start without a single member swap.
To round off the anniversary year, they will perform live in Gunma, their native state, in November. This month marks the beginning of their operations, 36 years after they first appeared.
