Saudi scientist Dr. Hanan Balkhi is a recognized authority on a global scale. She was a doctor specializing in public health, pediatrics, and communicable illnesses for over a quarter of a century.
Dr. Hanan Balkhi was elected Regional Director of the World Health Organization's Eastern Mediterranean Region during the organization's seventieth session of its Regional Committee, held in Cairo, Egypt, from October 9 to October 12. Saudi Arabia's Minister of Health, Mr. Fahd bin Abdul Rahman Al-Jalajel, recommended her for the post of elected regional director of the World Health Organization office for the area.

The Saudi Minister of Health issued a statement to the press on the occasion, saying, "The election of Dr. Hanan Balkhi as regional director of the organization's office for the Eastern Mediterranean region confirms the excellence and leadership that characterizes Saudi women in various fields."

Scientist and recognized authority Hanan Balkhi is from Saudi Arabia. She has extensive experience addressing emergency circumstances connected to disease outbreaks thanks to her over 25 years spent as a doctor in the fields of public health, child health, and infectious illnesses.
She is a professor (professor) in pediatric infectious diseases at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences and has a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from King Abdulaziz University. Her fellowship was completed at Case Western Reserve University.
Additionally, she served as the Director of the Collaborating Center for Infection Control and Antibiotic Resistance at the World Health Organization, as well as the Executive Director of the Infectious Disease Control Department at King Abdulaziz Medical City and the Head of the Infectious Diseases Department at the King Abdulaziz International Center for Medical Research.
