Due to the absence of direct descendants, Jörg Bucherer made the decision to sell his business. The company will maintain its identity and autonomous operations.
The watch and jewellery shop Bucherer is acquired by the Geneva-based Rolex luxury watch company. Over 100 jewellery stores throughout the world are taken over by him. The absence of direct descendants led Jörg Bucherer to decide to sell his business, the watchmaker revealed on Thursday. Rolex made the decision to replace Lucerne as the former independent dealer as a result.
The name and autonomous operations of the Bucherer brand will endure. When the Swiss Competition Commission approves the deal, it will go through.
For more than 90 years, Bucherer has sold Rolex watches in its stores. In Switzerland, the United States, Great Britain, Germany, France, Denmark, and Austria, the corporation runs jewellery and watch boutiques.
