The number of warships and submarines, as well as factors including fleet age, logistical support, and offensive and defensive capabilities, were all considered in the appraisal process.

Additionally, the rating took into account each navy's overall balance by examining the range of asset types they owned and if they concentrated their resources in particular regions. Smaller boats, survey ships, and old ceremonial ships were not included in the evaluation, which included the majority of ships.

Furthermore, the ranking distinguished between several classes of combat ships, including both smaller corvettes and frigates and bigger destroyers and cruisers.

A final "True Value Rating" was assigned to each fleet to compare them to one another.

The WDMMW report states that Bangladesh Navy, which came in at number 16, recently assessed the world's 36 navies to determine which had the strongest fleets. As of April, Bangladesh's fleet consisted of 66 active battle-ready units, 2 submarines, 7 frigates, 6 corvettes, 5 mine/countermine warships, 35 offshore-patrol vessels, and 16 amphibious assault vessels.

The WDMMW ranking found that the Bangladesh Navy's average age was 14.3 years old and that its overall force balance was regarded as "average."

Bangladesh received an assessment score of 58.6 using the True Value Rating.

In the South and Southeast Asian region only Indonesia and India ranks above Bangladesh at 4 and 7 respectively.
