On Monday evening, tragic news came out of Philadelphia when police said four people had been shot to death in the city. The incident, which occurred in the southwest of Kingsessing, also hurt two children, ages two and thirteen. The victims of this horrific act of violence were all male.
Since then, law enforcement officers have detained the alleged shooter and have found a handgun and a rifle connected to the event. Unsettlingly, the shooter was apparently sporting a ballistic vest when the shots were fired.
The event happened on Monday just before 8:30 PM local time (1:30 AM BST on Tuesday), according to local news reports. The attack's timing—the night before Independence Day—further exacerbated the community's shock and grief.
One day before, a horrific shooting had occurred in Baltimore, Maryland, right before this awful incident. In that episode, a shooting rampage at a yearly community event resulted in the deaths of two people and the injury of a startling 28 people, many of whom were children. Police in Baltimore are aggressively looking for several persons who are thought to be behind the attack.
