A total of 32 out of 50 jury members placed Gothenburg in the top three on their lists, while 47 out of 50 lists placed the city in the top ten. The prize is given out yearly by SVT. This considerably exceeds the previous three years (2012, 2013, and 2016), when Gothenburg got the honor.

Bettan Andersson (V), the head of the Gothenburg city's sports and associations committee, is present in Ume to accept the honor.

"Gothenburg has a long history of being a prosperous sports city, in large part because of all the dedicated associations that should be especially proud right now. I view the honor as motivation for us legislators to assist associations and develop new athletic options in Gothenburg, she adds.
