Judith Omtzigt grew up in the Dutch countryside. After obtaining a B.A. and M.A. in philosophy at Utrecht University, she moved to Heidelberg, Germany.
She was granted a PhD scholarship by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to do research within the field of ancient (Greco-Roman) philosophy. Her thesis, “Die Beziehung zwischen dem Schönen und dem Guten in der Philosophie Plotins,” was published by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht, Göttingen (2012).
After that, she taught courses in ancient philosophy at Heidelberg University, worked as a waitress, and published poetry in some Dutch literary magazines. In 2021, her poetry debut ‘Taboe‘ was published by Nobelman, Groningen (https://www.nobelman.nl/judith-omtzigt).
