According to race authorities, two athletes in the Ironman Nice triathlon experienced heart arrests on Sunday morning.
At approximately 7:00 a.m., a 70-year-old woman fainted while swimming in the Mediterranean Sea. She was treated by race medical personnel and paramedics before being flown to a neighboring hospital.
At about 8:00 a.m., a male athlete fainted while running on the Promenade des Anglais. He was also treated by race medical personnel and paramedics before being transported to a hospital via ambulance.
Both participants are claimed to be in good health.
The Ironman Nice triathlon includes a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile cycle ride, and a 26.2-mile run. It is one of the most renowned triathlons in the globe, attracting thousands of competitors from all over the world.
