The festival season opens with Rock am Ring and Rock im Park. Despite much higher ticket costs, tens of thousands of people are anticipated to attend the music events.

70 bands to perform on three stages over three days: Rock am Ring in the Eifel and Rock im Park in Nuremberg. The two music events are among the largest in Germany, with organizers anticipating over 70,000 guests to Rock am Ring and around 60,000 to Rock im Park this year. Both events will feature the same acts at different times.
Almost a third of the musicians are female in Rock im Park music festival
According to a Rock-im-Park representative, this year there are about 30% female artists, which is twice as many as in the previous year. There was criticism about the lack of female attendees at some rock events last year.
One day after Rock am Ring and Rock im Park, comedian Carolin Kebekus, among others, held an all-female event in Cologne as a protest.
A ticket for three days at Rock im Park and Rock am Ring may cost up to 300 euros, but that isn't the only difference between this year's events and those from years past. That's around 70 euros higher than last year in the same price range.
A tiny solace for music lovers: The German Weather Service (DWD) predicts that it will be bright and dry this weekend in both the Eifel and Nuremberg, so at least the weather should cooperate.
