It's official: there is a new "Superman" in the globe. Clark Kent will be played by actor David Corenswet (age 29) in "Superman: Legacy". Who is the celebrity from Philadelphia who resembles Henry Cavill's (40) younger brother? Has he have what it takes to become a superhero in Hollywood? David Corenswet childhood acting career
David Corenswet has been performing since he was a young child. He played his first little role in a theater production in his hometown of Philadelphia when he was nine years old. Up till he was 16 years old, he then performed in further Philadelphia theatrical productions. When asked about his early acting career in 2019, he responded, "I learnt from the top performers and directors in Philadelphia.
David Corenswet studied theater at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York from 2012 to 2016. He not only developed his skills as an actor throughout his studies, but also as a playwright and editor: until 2016, he co-produced the comedic web series "Moe & Jerryweather" with a buddy.
He was cast as Reed in the sixth season of the Netflix series "House of Cards" in 2018, playing the first love of first lady Claire Underwood in flashback scenes. Prior to that, he had cameos on several American television shows, such as "Elementary" and "Instinct."
The young actor's big break came in 2019 when he landed the lead in Ryan Murphy's series "The Politican," another Netflix project. Murphy re-engaged David Corenswet for his next Netflix series because he was so taken with the actor's depiction of River Barkley. The 29-year-old plays Jack Castello, an aspiring actor in the 2020 miniseries Hollywood.
The dream of becoming the Superman
The striking resemblance between David Corenswet and "Superman" actor Henry Cavill was noted soon after his success. He claimed to have known about the similarities for a very long time in an interview with "Entertainment Weekly" in 2019: Before the internet got aware of me, Corenswet stated, "I became aware of it."
"However, playing Superman is unquestionably my dream. If someone created a fun, earlier version of Superman, I would adore it. I adore Henry Cavill in his dark, gritty role, but I'd really like to play him in a picture that is joyful and upbeat the next time around.
This tremendous acting aspiration is finally becoming a reality for the 29-year-old thanks to his participation in James Gunn's next DC picture "Superman: Legacy." The actress Rachel Brosnahan (32) who plays Lois Lane in "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" will be shown by his side. The Hollywood Reporter states that the movie will debut in theaters in July 2025. The superhero show should begin shooting in early 2024.
