The track serves as the lead single off the singer's upcoming sophomore album, GUTS.

Olivia Rodrigo's long-awaited new track, "Vampire," came soon after midnight on Friday (June 30), ushering in her Edward Cullen period.

"Vampire," which will be released on June 30, is Rodrigo's first project since her multi-platinum debut Sour in 2021. She announced the song earlier this month, along with the single's black-and-white cover art, in which she is pictured wearing dark lipstick, winged eyeliner, and two Band-Aids on her neck where a vampire-fang puncture wound has occurred.

"Vampire" is the first song from Rodrigo's upcoming sophomore album GUTS, which is set to be released on September 8. The song is the Grammy winner's first release since 2021, following her breakout first album SOUR.

Rodrigo said in a press release that GUTS will cover "growing pains and trying to figure out who I am at this point in my life." "I feel like I grew 10 years between the ages of 18 and 20 — it was such an intense period of awkwardness and change," she went on to say. "I think that's all just a natural part of growth, and hopefully the album reflects that."
