The Canal Foundation holds a free exhibition on creative creativity in the capital during the 1980s in its exhibition hall (Calle Mate Inurria, 2) as part of the PhotoEspaa2023 festival. The exhibition Madrid: Creative Chronicle of the 1980s was staged to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Statute of Autonomy of the Community of Madrid. From that point forward, the capital became the country's social, cultural, artistic, and economic hub.

The show, which is open from May 19 to August 20, looks at the creative boom that Madrid saw during the transition to democracy. And it emphasizes the creation of new artistic currents, taking into account different movements, beyond the well-known "La Movida Madrileña".

Madrid: Crónica creativa de los 80 describes how the city's culture served as a catalyst for change in Spanish society and its need to adapt to new circumstances. Over 300 paintings from private and public collections will be on display throughout the show. The works, created by more than 80 artists from many disciplines, serve as a visual historical capsule.

A look at the film, music, painting, fashion, and way of life in turbulent but revolutionary times. A decade that contributed to the formation of Spanish pop iconography, which will be on display in the form of pictures, paintings, newspapers, magazines, posters, fanzines, album covers, ads, and television clips in this show.
