Engin Ardiç was born in Trabzon on February 1, 1952. Mustafa Evki is his father's name, and Vesile is his mother's. In Trabzon, where he was born, his parents were public workers. Ardiç attended Robert College and Galatasaray High School before graduating from Boaziçi University's Department of Political Sciences in 1976.


He began his journalism career by producing pieces for the magazine "Theater '70" in 1970. He worked as a copywriter, a BBC Turkish presenter, and a theatrical and literary critic for the Turkish newspapers " Cumhuriyet " and " Politik ". He was an editorial consultant for the "Nokta" magazine. He contributed columns to the newspapers Dünya, Sabah, Star, and Akşam. He hosted "The Commentary of the Day" on Star TV after the main news bulletin.


Since February 24, 2008, he had been a columnist for Sabah newspaper.
