This isn't the first time that incorrect information has propagated on social media. The SBT press office was forced to remark on the supposed death in February of that year. Masa Alves, the person in charge of the channel's communication, disputed the death in a message to the Metrópoles newspaper. OFuxico has contacted the team and is awaiting a response.

Silvio has recently returned to Brazil following a lengthy stint in the United States, where he owns a house. Recently, the family was forced to post notes on the property's gate, requesting that admirers move away from the house and stop sending presents and flowers. Some found the statement offensive, while others saw it as important.

Patrcia Abravanel, the presenter's daughter, has taken over his Sunday program while dad is gone from television. The station has been run by the family, but Homem do Ba regularly oversees the decisions made by his media conglomerate.

According to a published profile, GloboNews was in charge of notifying Silvio's death at 9:05 a.m., which did not occur. Grupo Globo's news station aired "Conexo GloboNews" during that time period but did not identify the presenter.

Silvio stated that "his memory is slowly fading" in a letter written on the night of his 90th birthday.

He wrote the words for the foreword to a book dedicated to him, "Sonho Sequestrado," written by Marcondes Gadelha.

"My memory, like many of my organs, including the obvious one that hasn't worked in a long time, fades away with each passing day." This book of yours reminds me of experiences I'd forgotten about and makes me cry with each page I read," remarked Homem do Ba.
