A loading ramp seems to have been used by unidentified persons to access the retail mall with a car. The destination was a jewelry shop. They lit the automobile on fire and fled.

On Monday, a spectacular burglary took place at The Shopping City Süd (SCS) in Vösendorf (Mödling district). Unknown individuals opened a delivery door at a mall before crashing a BMW into a jewelry store's window. They got away unnoticed. At first, there was no information available on the treasure. The automobile that had been stolen in Vienna was set on fire, according to the police.

At roughly 3.45 in the morning, a fire in the SCS was reported. Johann Baumschlager, a spokesman for the police, stated that "probably two or more perpetrators" entered the jewelry store. They used the BMW as a "battering ram" for each other.

The coup lasted only a few minutes. The spokesman said it was not confirmed that shots had been fired. Rather, it was about the shattering of the windows of the car inside the SCS.

There was currently no information available on the criminals' escape. There was a report of another car waiting.

The mall was searched following the break-in by the Cobra and the Rapid Intervention Group (SIG). Further inquiries have been launched by the State Criminal Police Office of Lower Austria (theft, fire, crime scene). In addition, video footage were assessed. On Monday, the work on the crime site was finished. Because of the burning automobile and any potential damage, structural engineers were also at work in the SCS.
