On Tuesday, a big fire is raging in Aubervilliers. It exploded in a warehouse, sending thick black smoke all over Paris.
On Tuesday, a large fire broke out in an Aubervilliers warehouse. The fire started out at the Rafco Valège warehouse at the intersection of rue Sadi Carnot and avenue Félix Faure, according to Paris firemen and Aubervilliers mayor Karine Franclet.
According to the elected official, there is no victim. The 30 employees who were inside the textile warehouse were able to escape safely. According to a representative for the firemen on the scene at France Bleu Paris, 5,000 square meters were torched.
Around 12:30 p.m., emergency services were contacted. Although a vital device has been installed, the fire is still out of control for the time being. "Approximately 70 machines, including several lances, are in action," said Paris firemen, adding that 200 firefighters are presently mobilized.
The Seine-Saint-Denis prefecture advises inhabitants to avoid the affected region and to keep their windows closed when confronting the smoke. It also recommends avoiding the region in order to promote relief action. Paris firemen have already arrived. Line 12's Aimé Césaire metro station is closed.
The column of smoke may be seen from a distance over Paris. According to an employee of France Bleu Paris, the sky has thus darkened in the 18th arrondissement.
This is not the first fire seen in the surrounding area: in the summer of 2020, a fire at a warehouse on the same street in Aubervilliers had previously clouded the sky for kilometers around.
