How old is Karsu and where is she from?

Karsu Dönmez is the daughter of a Turkish family who came from the town of Karsu in Hatay and was born in Amsterdam on April 19, 1990. She became interested in music when she was eight years old, after seeing her captivating beauty while watching a piano player on television. Her family originally rented her a piano before purchasing one with the money they had saved. Karsu Donmez went on to study singing at the University of Rhode Island, thanks to a grant from the American Embassy in the Netherlands.


Karsu began playing the piano at the age of 16 at her father's Kilim Restaurant, attracting the attention of guests and increasing the number of listeners. As a result, his family decided to book a hall for anyone who wished to hear him speak. But, their plans were unable to match the expectations of people who wished to observe Karsu. Karsu achieved remarkable popularity at this concert and began to receive offers from the world's most prestigious stages. He quickly appeared on prestigious stages such as the Concertgebouw, the North Sea Jazz Festival, and even Carnegie Hall in New York. People who closed their eyes during her concerts felt as if they were listening to a jazz great in New Orleans, owing to her musical arrangements.

Karsu's music career

Karsu focused on her career in Turkey in the fall of 2011 by signing with her record label, event and management firm "Y Culture and Art". He released his debut studio album Confession (2012) and Colors (2015) in Turkey with the label of "Y Culture and Art". Karsu wrote the words and composed the music for nearly all of the songs on these two albums.


Karsu was introduced to a new audience in 2012 when she appeared for the first time on Güneri Civaolu's Transparent Room program. Karsu performed at various organizations, including the Istanbul Zorlu Center PSM, the Ankara Jazz Festival, the Alanya Jazz Festival, and the Akbank Jazz Festival. Throughout 2014 and 2015, he went on a globe tour dubbed From New York to Istanbul. Karsu performed in over 40 venues in 2018 with her project Plays Atlantic Records. The life narrative of Ahmet Ertegün, the founder of the world-famous Atlantic Records record company, was narrated in these performances, and Atlantic Records tunes were reworked with a Karsu touch.


With this project, Karsu brought Ertegün's journey to the stage with the songs released by Atlantic Records. Karsu, 2018' In May, he staged this concert in Turkish for the first time at Zorlu PSM. Karsu Plays Atlantic Records tour ended at London Cadogan Hall.


After three years of labor, the musician released his self-titled fourth album "Karsu" on October 10, 2019. Karsu wrote almost all of the songs on the CD.
