At 2.11 a.m., an earthquake of magnitude 4.1 was reported off the northern coast of Sicily, near the Aeolian Islands.
The earthquake had a hypocenter 30 kilometers deep and an epicenter northwest of the island of Alicudi, according to data from the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (Ingv) (Messina). There has been no recorded damage to individuals or property.
That was not the only jolt observed on the Aeolian Islands throughout the night. The replia occurred at 2.27, although it was minimal. It had a magnitude of 2.2 and was detected by Ingv at a depth of 19 kilometers.
The people experienced the initial shock. Several residents went to the streets in terror, and phone calls were made to the Lipari firemen. Someone opted to spend the night inside their automobiles, but no one has been injured as of yet.
