Fire in Wieselburg

Lower Austria's next huge fire! A big fire on an agricultural property is being fought by ten fire departments from two districts near Wieselburg (Scheibbs district).

A fire broke out at Bauxberg for unknown causes, and a big column of smoke could be seen from distance. Ten fire departments (highest alert level "B4"), as well as an ambulance and police officers, rushed to the scene. Fortunately, no one has been injured as of yet.

There is also an update on the second large fire in Lower Austria: the fire crews were informed at 11.32 a.m. to a fire at a house near the church in Ybbsitz - more on this here. The Ybbsitz, Waidhofen/Ybbs, Opponitz, Zell, and Gresten defenses were deployed, as were 13 respiratory protection teams and 79 fire department workers. A rotating ladder from the fire department was also employed. According to preliminary accounts, no one was hurt.

According to operations manager Leopold Herzog, commander of the FF Ybbsitz and section fire brigade commander of Waidhofen/Land, the nearby structures may be safeguarded. The procedure worked successfully because, as Herzog stated, Ybbsitz has an extensive hydrant network.
