The savage attack on the spouse of US Representative Nancy Pelosi in October horrified the country. The footage captured by a police officer's body camera has now been made public. Parts of the emergency call are also audible.
The police video recordings were revealed by the US judiciary three months after the attack on Nancy Pelosi's husband. The assailant is shown on video wielding a hammer to strike 82-year-old Paul Pelosi at the couple's San Francisco home. Parts of Pelosi's emergency call, in addition to the video, were made public on Friday. Several media outlets had previously demanded the material's release.
Just days before the US congressional elections in October, Pelosi's husband was assaulted and critically injured. After the incident, he needed surgery for a broken head as well as major damage to his right arm and hands. The offender was looking for the influential Democrat Pelosi, but she was not found during the heist. Following the incident, right-wing conspiracy theories proliferated, and individual Republicans mocked the attack during the election campaign.
Pelosi is now seen grappling with the attacker for a hammer in the footage. He snatched the hammer from the 82-year-old and violently struck his victim with it. The cops ultimately step in. Pelosi may be seen laying lifeless on the ground. The attacker may eventually be overwhelmed by the emergency services.
