In Russia, media officials have banned the websites of the CIA and FBI due to claims of distributing fake material. According to Roskomnadzor, the US foreign intelligence agency and federal police disseminated faulty and fraudulent information on their websites that undermined Russia's military forces.
"Roskomnadzor has prohibited access to a number of resources belonging to enemy state entities and circulating content intended at undermining the social and political situation in Russia," according to the official statement. A number of independent media sources, international news websites, and social media platforms including as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter have already been blocked by Russia's media regulator.
